France-Singapore Innovation Days
Two days, 58 French and Singaporean speakers, 21 visiting French companies and 33 bottles of French wine. That’s what happens when the French take Singapore’s shores by storm, this time targeting the tech community. The France-Singapore Innovation Days was organized by the French Trade Commission, UBIFRANCE in Singapore, and a whole bunch of Singaporean government bodies and their affiliates such as the Media Development Authority (MDA), Infocomm Development Authority (IDA) and Economic Development Board (EDB), with the aim to encourage and facilitate the expansion of French tech companies into the country and the region.
To help bring the French and Singaporean tech communities together, UBIFRANCE together with the local investor community held an Investors’ Pitch session at Plug-in@Blk71. The session showcased five French companies and four Singaporean companies of various stages. Some of the local investors present were from SingTel Innov8, MDA and IncuVest Asia.
One of the French company that pitched a really interesting product, and are already working with Intercontinental Hotels Group’s Holiday Inn is Openways. Openways’ product is a modern web service to use mobile phones instead of keys, cards and badges for the purpose of opening doors. The company has several patents pending and has major projects in the US and Europe. Check out their product video with Holiday Inn.
Another cool company from France was XD Productions. XD Productions is the leader of 3D content on TV broadcast in France. Their product, Animakit Studios is a one of kind realtime animation system. The system combines a complete 3D character animation solution with standard hardware to animate body, voice, eyes, face & finger in real time. Check out their product demo video.
These are some of the French companies looking to expand their operations into Asia through local partners. For a full list of French companies that pitched at the session, you can view the pitch session website. The Singaporean companies that pitched at the event where Aleph Labs, LeapSky Wireless, Dreamarvel and Jamiq. LeapSky Wireless provides a borderless data access service that allows their subscribers to have access to mobile data, while traveling, at a lower rate than data roaming charges.
