Socialwok, an enterprise collaboration software for Google Apps and Microsoft Outlook has just launched its native iPhone and Android app.

Singapore-based Socialwok, whose tag line is “Facebook for businesses”, allows co-workers to share files, web links, Google Docs and Google Calendar invites in a news feed format.

According to a recent report from Forrester, mobile development has gone from being a separate silo to being mainstream. But Socialwok founder and chief executive, Ming Yong says his competitors like Yammer and Salesforce Chatter treat their mobile clients like “second-class citizens” compared to their web products.

“Our competitors create mobile applications that have very basic mobile browsing and posting capabilities. They also typically do limited caching and integration with the handset,” he said in an e-mail response to our questions. “We wanted our users to be able to use Socialwok just from the mobile and not suffer any degradation of experience in using the service.”

Socialwok’s iPhone and Android apps use the platforms’ native functions. Some of the key features in the Android version include background syncing of status updates, feeds and contacts, attaching photos from the camera to updates and sharing Google Docs in status updates. In the iPhone version, users can view notes and emails in feeds and view the associated feeds and info for people in their network.

Both iPhone and Android apps are available globally.

Socialwok is an alumnus of unConference’09. It then launched its product at TechCrunch50 and won the DemoPit award. Socialwok also participated in the Google IO Developer Sandbox this year. They recently won the Asia Pacific New Product Innovation Award for enterprise collaboration software from market research firm Frost and Sullivan.
