Yahoo! Acquires Koprol, Foursquare of Indonesia
Word just came out today that Yahoo! has acquired Koprol, dubbed the Foursquare of Indonesia. Though actual figures have not been announced, this is a boon for the Asian startup scene with 2 acquisition announcements in the spate of 5 days, first the Sprice.com acquisition by Travelport and now this one. We wrote about Indonesian having one of the highest internet penetration rates in SE Asia and their vibrant technology eco-system. Lately, we’ve noticed a steady trend of technology juggernauts setting their foot in South East Asia, case in point being, Facebook setting up office in Singapore and Amazon setting up their cloud infrastructure.
