Screw iPhone, WaveSecure Launches for Android

Uber cool Singaporean startup, Tencube, just launched their WaveSecure product offering for the Android Platform. That’s one up for all you Android users out there. While iPhone users (crap, I’m one of them!) have to contend with losing all their data and getting their privacy breached when they lose their phones, Android users can easily recover their lost data, swipe their phones clean and backup all those sensitive information on the WaveSecure servers. Check out the video below on how it’s done:

Here’s a quick recap of the features available:

  1. Lock your phone remotely to prevent unauthorized access to your phone
  2. Track your phone’s location and the SIM changes in your phone (even if your phone is not with you!)
  3. Backup your contacts, SMS, media and call logs
  4. Restore your contacts and SMS
  5. Remotely wipe your data on your phone and memory card

    There is a Find My iPhone apps on Apple’s MobileMe which can help you locate your iPhone, remote wipe the data, remote password lock, display message or play a sound when your iPhone is lost. So I’m sorry, but iPhone users didn’t lose out that much.

    @DK – ya Find My iPhone is pretty cool, except MobileMe costs USD $99. Also it has a few holes that makes it rather vulnerable (though i’m sure cupertino would patch it soon).

    Anyways, it’s be cooler if Apple actually allows us to build a product that works and put it up on appstore and let the user decide. =/

    Find my iPhone can find the phone even when switched off. Don’t think it’s possible in Android. Not sure if it’s a software or hardware limitation.

    How much more secure is this compared to the lock that comes with the Android OS?
