Senior Web Developer – [voxel.net]

by leslie

Voxel dot Net is expanding its network and business into Singapore and looking for the best and brightest to join its team. We’re technologists that operate a global network for traditional hosting, managed hosting, and advanced content delivery with our VoxCAST OnDemand CDN and our streaming media VoxCAST Live CDN.

Over 1,000 clients rely on Voxel, including Fortune 5000, Web 2.0 startups, Carriers, Media & Entertainment, Advertising Networks, etc. We’re looking for cutting-edge web developers that can proudly and efficiently display our strengths for internal and customer-facing company websites.

Position: Senior Web Developer

  • Emphasis on the *Developer* part.
  • Ajax, Web 2.0, PHP, APIs, clean and efficient; these aren’t vague ideas to you, they’re the baseline requirements of any successful project.
  • We go to a lot of trouble to collect a lot of really useful network information. We need you to help us display it in innovative and efficient ways to customers. Yes, that means graphs and reports, but think Google Analytics on steroids – not web counters circa 1998.
  • Backend, aka the dirty details. Our network is fast, our websites have to be. You don’t need to be an expert in optimizing scalability (we have those), but you need to think about how long those cool Ajax requests are going to take when you try to do a POST for every pixel, and you need to know what MySQL is and good, smart ways to interact with it and store data.
  • Familiarity with internets. We’re a networking company, we have a lot of technical employees doing technical things. Some of the things you’d need to display and interact with are technical internetsy things. It would help if you were familiar with them already.

Voxel dot Net is centered in NYC, and all positions involve interaction with the NY office and travel opportunities. Voxel offers competitive compensation packages, flexible hours and a work environment that puts performance and ability above politics and paperwork.
