Blogging the Vietnam Web 2.0 Scene
Just want to give a shoutout to Jason Vu who runs the best blog I have seen so far on the Vietnam Web 2.0 scene. I am guilty of hyperbole here of course since there’s only two English-based blogs i have found. If you are wondering on whether Vietnam has a Youtube clone, a Secondlife equivalent or local social networking site and are thinking of jumping in to become the next web mogul in this country, think again and read Jason first.
A lot of you folks have sent me messages asking for my views on the Vietnam scene. Here’s my reply. Jason has a pretty diligent overview of the scene from the various English and Vietnamese news sites. Check out some of his comparison with the Chinese Web 2.o industry as well, which might be more relevant to the Vietnam context due to the cultural similarities.
Interestingly, he also blogged about my coverage of the “Change the World” event in April 2007 that was attended by Tim Draper. To clarify his post on DFJV “being armed by Singapore guys”, the DFJ affiliate in Vietnam is managed by a predominantly Vietnamese-speaking team, not me who can only count from 1 to 10 in Viet. =)
Disclosure: The author of this blog-post works in DFJ VinaCapital as an analyst/ graduate intern.
